When the issue of Commercial Kitchen Ventilation rears its head it may be as a stand-alone concern – e.g a system upgrade or refurbishment to an existing establishment, or it may be part of a major design and build project – e.g complete new restaurant fit out or new build.

It may form part of a small take away restaurant development or it may be an aspect of a new build school, prison or care home.

Whatever the size of the ventilation component, it is a specialist niche activity often overlooked or under-estimated by building contractors, architects, planners and M&E contractors alike. It is not simply a case of asking the builder to get a canopy ‘knocked up’ and then to stick a fan in a hole in the kitchen wall.

Many installation contractors offer a ‘one stop shop’ service, but experience tells us that clients often fall foul of inadequate design, poor quality and incorrectly selected products, shoddy installation and lack of management of the works.

  • We meet with you and your team and visit your site to get an full understanding of what it is you’re trying to achieve from day one.
  • We offer an initial report covering all aspects of the proposed ventilation works.
  • We can undertake an initial design brief with calculations to give you an idea of what is required of a ventilation system to suit your needs.
  • We deal with Local Authority issues regarding planning/EHO and adherence to noise, smoke and smell conditions.
  • We liaise with your project team to ensure they have the correct information to allow them to do their jobs.
  • We develop a suitable electro-mechanical design that ticks all the boxes and generate working drawings for installation.
  • We liaise with 3rd parties to ensure that all aspects of the ventilation installation is understood – e.g sub-contractors/other trades/utilities companies/architects/quantity surveyors etc
  • We are on hand at all times to answer questions from all parties on all facets of the ventilation system.
  • We can develop a specification to complement any ventilation design/drawings should you wish to enter a tender process.
  • We can work directly with the client or their agents to fully cost out the proposed ventilation installation, using expert partner suppliers and utilising negotiated discounts.
  • We can plan and programme the ventilation installation and dovetail it into any master build programme – from design submission to equipment deliveries to installation to handover.
  • We can supervise procurement on behalf of the client or their agents.
  • We can generate all H&S documentation required for installation works.
  • We can liaise with Principal Contractors/Site Managers during the project and attend meetings as required.
  • We attend site to monitor build progress and amend plans and programme accordingly.
  • We supervise the installation of the new vent system to complete client satisfaction, and liaise with 3rd parties and other trades to ensure complete functionality.
  • We can monitor all budgetary control pertinent to the ventilation aspect of your project.
  • We monitor suppliers progress with any fabrication or delivery to ensure all aspects of the installation programme are met.
  • We can provide mechanic and electrical installation with partner contractors if required.
  • We can arrange system commissioning by long-standing engineering partners if required, as well as generating all complimentary certificates and schedules.
  • We can supervise all handing over of any new system and liaise with 3rd parties accordingly.
  • We can generate all Operation & Maintenance (O&M) documentation if required.
